Doctors Receive Grant to Study MRSA
A group of medical researchers have received funding to study Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, commonly known as MRSA, and the antibiotics used to treat the infections caused by the deadly bacteria. The first of its kind, the study will examine different strains of MRSA and focus on the best drug treatment protocols for the different strains. The National Institute of Health has classified MRSA as a serious public health concern, with death rates ranging from 20-30% in patients infected with MRSA.
