Lawsuit Filed Over MRSA Infection
A King County, Washington jail inmate has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit as a result of contracting MRSA while behind bars. MRSA rates are rising in jail and prison settings due to poor hygiene practices. Matthew Wisecarter, 41, is seeking to have the lawsuit certified as a class action suit. Even Department of Justice officials admit that sanitary conditions are lacking in the jail, concluding that inmate health care falls "below the constitutionally required standards."
