Proteins in Alligator Blood May Protect Against Superbug Infections
Researchers in Louisianna have found that the proteins in alligator blood may be the key in the fight against superbug infections in humans. In a study presented to the American Chemical Society, researchers exposed 23 different types of bacteria to a serum derived from alligator blood. All of the bacteria were destroyed. As dangerous infections, such as MRSA, continue to resist antibiotics and threaten the health of our human population, studies such as these can lead to the next generation of effective drugs that can combat the superbugs.
