"We have been using the Esporta Wash System for the cleaning of firefighter protective clothing and have experienced firsthand how it clearly provides vastly superior soil and contamination removal than traditional laundering machines” noted Stewart Walker, President, Canadian Ensemble Services, "This study provides the empirical proof of that fact".
Results of the study showed that using the Esporta Wash System, which is designed to minimize potential damage to the clothing while providing a comprehensive cleaning process, had "less reductions of protective performance as compared to the conventional laundering process. These findings were observed specifically for outer shell breaking strength, seam strength, liquid penetration resistance, viral (blood borne pathogen) penetration resistance, and trim night-time visibility performance." The conventional laundering process used in the study was a typical industrial laundering method in compliance with the requirements of NFPA 1971. While the study focuses solely on the effects of these two cleaning methods on firefighter protective gear, the conclusion that the Esporta Wash System is a superior cleaning method may be applied to other softgood items.
